Binaural audio is intended to capture the audio cues that we use to locate sound sources in the space around us, so that a pair of conventional headphones provides a more three-dimensional, immersive listening experience. While binaural recording can often involve arcane practices, such as recording sounds using a dummy head with a mic fitted in each ear, or even tiny mics placed in your own ears, you don't need to buy any extra gear to make use of binaural processing when mixing in Logic Pro X. Exactly the info I was looking for.Get creative with Logic's new binaural panning options. Thanks very much for your detailed response. (It shouldn't be, but you do encounter this at times) If you hard pan to one side you are just hearing that side of the stereo image and not the other. It is handy if a stereo track is a little loud on one side for any reason. Stereo is not summed but one side is simply adjusted in level in respect to the other as you move the pan control. Jemusic wroteThe Pan control over a stereo or interleaved track performs a slightly different role and it can be a little confusing. So if you wanted to you could sum a stereo signal/image and then pan that mono signal anywhere in the stereo sound stage. I use an excellent third party plugin called 'Channel Tools' from Cakewalk. They are Dual Pan, Binaural Pan for width altering options, Mix Tool is excellent for a variety of jobs too such as inverting the polarity of one side etc.summing etc. The Studio One plugins are there to handle those types of jobs. They also allow you to create a narrower stereo image and move that total now narrow image around from left to right too positioning it more accurately if you want. These types of plugs allow you to pan those two signals anywhere, adjust their levels and sum into mono etc. To really get into better control over stereo images you are much better off inserting a suitable plugin that allows a lot of control over the L and R sides of the stereo image.
